In fifteen days, I’m heading out to a blogging conference on the East Coast.
I’ve never been to a blogging conference. I’m little nervous. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to be the only single rocking the conference. Which is fine. But honestly, when women sit around talking about childbirth, how they miss their single years, and how sometimes, they just can’t stand being around their husband…I don’t know how to relate to that life stage.
So I could give up, become a wallflower, and resign myself to boredom. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. That’s really not my style. We’re all more than the life stage we’re pegged in. Reading the blogs of the other women, I’m excited to get to meet them. To spend a weekend of doing life together.
When Brooke suggested a getting to know you post, I thought it would be fun to try.
So here I am -
1. I like to cross things off lists. I don’t have a bucket list but I do have a list of things I want to do before I’m old or boring, whichever comes first. I also have a “Texas bucket list.” It’s all an excuse to experience the zenith of opportunities there are in life. I love making memories but one of my biggest fears is forgetting them.
2. When I was a little girl, I wanted to grow up to be Nancy Drew. I was obsessed with sluething. It annoyed the neighbors.
3. Some people are beer snobs, others are wine snobs…I’m a coffee snob. Thanks to years of wearing the green apron, I can tell you exactly which growing region has which flavor profiles. And I will judge you by your favorite region.
4. My friends call me up for “state of the date” reports. I’m a singles columnist and hilarious date stories come with the territory. They just happen. Much to my roommate’s chagrin. I’m just waiting for my hot+holy.
5. My taste in music ranges from classical to rap. Since moving to Texas, my love of country music has grown. So has my appreciation for Top 40. Go figure.
6. I’m a Portlander. Keep it real. Keep it weird.
7. I love Jesus, coffee, and skinny jeans. In that order.
8. I write. A lot. Professionally and for the fun of it. Storytelling is a passion of mine.
9. I’m adventure prone. Saying that I’m accident prone would imply that I don’t enjoy them. I do. Fun things tend to happen when I’m around. Which is awesome because I laugh a lot.
10. There are a few things that I’m incredibly passionate about – relationships, stopping human trafficking, and standing up for the underdog.
That’s part of who I am.
